Quilombo_Trema! Porto 2026: dates, venues, free events and tickets

Listen nowQuilombo_Trema! returns to Porto from 24 to 27 September 2026 for four days of performance, talks, workshops and community events centred on Black, Afro-diasporic and Indigenous culture. The programme spans Teatro Municipal do Porto, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), CACE Cultural and other venues. Much of the programme is free, although some performances require tickets.
For international residents in Porto, it is one of the strongest multicultural events on the late-September calendar, bringing together artists and researchers connected to Portugal, Brazil, Colombia, Mozambique and Spain.

What is worth seeing?
24 September: Diásporas do Pensamento seminar
The festival opens with the Diásporas do Pensamento seminar from 09:30 to 17:30 in the Aula Magna at FBAUP. The day is designed around ideas, memory, identity and Afro-diasporic perspectives.
24 September: Alvorada de Olhares Íntimos
Portuguese artist and poet Raquel Lima performs Alvorada de Olhares Íntimos at 20:00 at Black Box CRL-Central Elétrica / CACE Cultural. Admission is free, but tickets are distributed one hour before the session. The work combines projected images, letters and audio in a performance shaped by personal and collective memory.
25 September: Afrocentred theatre workshop
Brazilian researcher and artist Aza Njeri leads a free workshop at FBAUP from 14:00 to 17:00 on Afrocentred theatre, body, ancestry and pluriversality. Advance registration is required through the festival organiser.
25 and 26 September: Clayton Nascimento’s Macacos
One of the headline performances is Clayton Nascimento’s Macacos at the Rivoli Small Auditorium at 19:30 on both 25 and 26 September. Tickets cost €9, the performance lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes and is rated 14+. Teatro Municipal do Porto lists the performance as wheelchair accessible. It is performed in Portuguese.

27 September: Afro market and Colombian storytelling
On the final day, the Feira Afro Empreendedora runs from 14:00 to 19:00 in the gardens of FBAUP. The free market brings together local Afro and Afro-descendant entrepreneurs working across fashion, accessories, visual arts, literature, food and beauty.
Also at FBAUP, Mónica Chiquillo Fernandez presents Histórias que Dançam at 14:00. The free storytelling performance draws on Colombian stories, music and dance and does not require ticket collection.
Do you need to book?
It depends on the event. Some programme items are free with no ticket, some free performances distribute tickets shortly before the session, and the Aza Njeri workshop requires advance registration. Macacos is a paid ticketed event. Because capacity rules differ by venue, check the individual event page before travelling.
