Québec Intercultural Encounters Week 2026: meet people through local culture

Babylon Radio
Listen nowA conversation at an exhibition, a film followed by a discussion, or a shared creative project can make a new place feel more familiar. Québec’s Intercultural Encounters Week offers those openings from 2 to 8 November, inviting residents of different backgrounds to meet through local activities.
The 2026 edition runs under the theme Le Québec en commun. Its focus is on connections between people, participation in community life and exchanges in French. For newcomers, it is a chance to discover organisations and cultural spaces beyond the everyday routines of work, study and administration.
Find an activity near you
Start with the province’s official activity calendar, which has a region selector and an option for virtual events. Then check the individual organiser’s page for the venue, time and any registration requirements.
Granby’s programme shows the range of ways to join in. Most activities there are free, but this does not mean every event across Québec has the same admission arrangements.
Film, shared stories and food in Granby
On Tuesday 3 November at 19:00, the city’s programme lists a free screening of À travers tes yeux at Cégep de Granby, 235 rue Saint-Jacques. Co-directors Brigitte Poupart and Fabiola Pierre Monty will join the discussion. Follow the programme’s reservation link before going.
On Wednesday 4 November, Atelier 19 hosts Qu’as-tu dans ton bagage? from 09:00 to 16:00 at 279 rue Principale, bureau 301. Participants are invited to share their stories through a collective artwork. On Saturday 7 November, the public market’s intercultural food kiosk brings together 12 exhibitors from immigrant backgrounds, from 09:00 to 14:00.
These are local examples rather than a complete provincial itinerary. Choose an activity that interests you and check its practical details with the organiser.
An exhibition that continues after the week
Du Cambodge à Granby: l’odyssée de Kimpov Eap is open until 25 November at Centre culturel France-Arbour, 279 rue Principale, local 207. Admission is free. The exhibition offers another way to explore a journey between cultures through visual art.
Its vernissage is on Sunday 8 November at 14:00. Regular visiting hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:00, and weekends, 13:00 to 16:00. That leaves time to visit even if your first week of November is busy.
You do not have to turn the week into a packed schedule. One exhibition or conversation can be a useful first step towards knowing more people and places in your community.
