Netherlands Minimum Wage 2026: €14.99 an Hour from July

The statutory minimum wage in the Netherlands is €14.99 per hour for workers aged 21 and over from 1 July 2026. The rate is before tax.

What are the 2026 hourly rates?

From 1 July 2026, the legal minimum hourly rates are:

• 21 and over: €14.99
• 20: €11.99
• 19: €8.99
• 18: €7.50
• 17: €5.92
• 16: €5.17
• 15: €4.50

The rates were slightly lower in the first half of 2026.

Why is there no single monthly minimum wage?

Since 2024, the Netherlands has used a statutory hourly minimum wage. Your weekly or monthly pay therefore depends on the number of official hours you work.

What should newcomers check?

Look at your age, contracted hours and gross hourly rate. Your employment contract or collective labour agreement may give you a higher wage than the legal minimum.

Keep your payslips and check that paid leave and paid sick hours are recorded correctly where applicable.
