Malmö’s first TEKNO festival runs from 12 to 14 November 2026, bringing together live music, sound art and creative technology. There are free concerts on Thursday and Friday, plus a small Saturday workshop for young women and non-binary people. The late Friday club night costs extra.
For international residents looking beyond the usual gig listings, it offers a way into Malmö’s experimental music scene without committing to a festival pass. The Inter Arts Center’s festival overview describes a programme linking electronic art music with underground club culture. Most events are free, not every event.
Start with the free opening night
On Thursday 12 November, the Inter Arts Center opening programme runs from 7pm to 11pm. Entry is free. The venue is at Bergsgatan 29, with the Red Room on the fourth floor.
The performers include Maja S. K. Ratkje, Yann Coppier, Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir, Robert Ek and Kent Olofsson. Expect electronic performances and listening installations using multiple speakers, rather than a conventional series of pop songs. Ratkje’s improvised solo set combines her voice with live electronic processing, while Ek uses sensors to extend the sounds of the clarinet.
Friday: free concerts, then a paid club night
Inkonst’s Friday programme on 13 November clearly separates the two parts of the evening. Concerts run from 7pm to 11pm with free entry. The listing gives no age limit for this concert section.
Performers include Icelandic artist Sól Ey, Copenhagen’s Sistro Duo and the pairing of Jakob Riis with Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir. Their work ranges from interactive instruments and light to percussion, violin and live electronics.
From 11pm to 3am, Feeler Records takes over for a club night priced at SEK 120. Do not assume the concert’s admission or age conditions also cover the late club session. Check that session’s entry terms before making plans.
Try making music with code
On Saturday 14 November, Malmö Konsthall hosts a live-coding workshop from 1pm to 4pm in C-salen. It is for young women and non-binary people aged 16 to 25, with no previous coding or music-production experience required.
Composer and musician Mattias Petersson will introduce ways to make music in real time using SuperCollider. Bring a laptop and headphones. Admission is free, but there are only 15 places.
The venue now links to a sign-up form from its official workshop page. Registration availability could not be independently verified. Check the official page and contact the venue if its sign-up link does not work. Do not assume walk-in places are available. Ask about teaching language or access needs before booking.
