JAZZMI 2026: free jazz concerts in Milan until 8 November and how to reserve

Babylon Radio
Listen nowMilan’s big jazz festival, JAZZMI, is running across the city until Sunday 8 November 2026, and alongside the ticketed shows there’s a generous strand of free events: concerts in hotel lounges, a solo violin set, film screenings, talks and photo exhibitions. Here’s how the free programme works and what’s coming up, based on the festival’s official free calendar as of 23 October.
How reservations work
“Free” doesn’t always mean you can just turn up. Each listing on jazzmi.it says which of these applies:
- Free with registration: the listing has a “Registrati” (register) button. Use that event’s own booking link to reserve a free place, as the booking system varies from event to event. Do this in advance, as spots are limited.
- Free until full: listings marked “ingresso libero fino ad esaurimento posti” are first come, first served, so arrive early.
- Free by phone booking: the organisers say the jazz film screenings at Armani/Silos are free but must be booked by phone on +39 02 91630010.
Always open the individual event page before you go, as details can change during the festival.
A free concert also makes a lovely excuse for an evening stroll, and our piece on the Italian passeggiata explains why the habit matters here.
Free events coming up
- Sunday 25 October: an afternoon of free hotel concerts, including Silver Lining at the Excelsior Hotel Gallia (4:30pm, register via the event page), Les Moirettes at The Westin Palace (5pm), Suit&Blue Quartet at Chateau Monfort (5:30pm) and Priscila Ribas & Paulo Zannol at the Hilton Milan (6pm).
- Monday 26 October: Warren Ellis plays a solo violin improvisation at Armani/Silos, Via Bergognone 40. Entry is free until the venue is full, with doors at 8:30pm and the show at 9pm.
- Wednesday 28 October: Dinamic Duo at Casa Brera (7:30pm).
- Thursday 29 October: a busy day, with “Solo: concerto per jazz e fotografia” at Volvo Studio Milano (11am), the vocal trio Kali Sisters reviving 1930s swing at the Tivoli President hotel (6:30pm, free until full), Yazmin Lacey with Arya opening at Apple Piazza Liberty (9pm, registration on the festival site) and Melty Groove at Cascina Nascosta (9:30pm).
- Talks and listening sessions: the Clan Acustico and Ascolti Inauditi series at COMBO and VOCE Triennale, including sessions on Miles Davis’s Tutu (28 October) and Quincy Jones (3 November). The organisers say these are free with compulsory booking on jazzmi.it.
- Sunday 8 November: Lamblues, the Lambrate band mixing blues, jazz and rock, play the Enterprise Hotel, Corso Sempione 91, at 18:30. Entry is free with registration through the event page.
- Exhibitions: Luciano Viti’s photo show “Miles in Italy” at Noise Cinemino runs until 8 November, and “Il tempo del jazz”, with photographs by Herman Leonard and Pino Ninfa, is at Volvo Studio Milano until 7 November.
The free calendar shows the first events only, so use its “Carica altro” (load more) button or the full JAZZMI agenda to see the final week.
Many of these free shows take place in neighbourhood venues and hotel lounges, which is part of their charm. For more on settling in locally, read about Italian neighbourhood life.
Heading north later this autumn? Berlin has its own big jazz week, covered in our Jazzfest Berlin 2026 guide.
A note on older listings
You may still see older listings and ticket sites mentioning Erykah Badu opening the festival on 19 and 20 October at Teatro Nazionale. Those concerts were cancelled. Ticketmaster Italy says tickets bought through Ticketmaster are being refunded automatically; if you bought elsewhere, check with your seller, and the festival has said it’s looking at whether new dates are possible, though none had been confirmed when we checked.
Keep an eye on the JAZZMI free calendar for new additions as the festival goes on.
