Germany’s festival fund deadline moves to 30 October

Babylon Radio
Listen nowMusic festival organisers in Germany have until noon on Friday, 30 October 2026, to apply to the fourth round of the Festivalförderfonds. Initiative Musik moved the application window following technical problems with its online portal. Its current programme guidance confirms the revised deadline.
The fund offers grants of €10,000 to €50,000, covering up to 70% of eligible project expenditure. The award cannot exceed the festival’s actual financing gap, so applicants must show how the remaining costs will be covered. See the current funding overview.
Who can apply?
The programme supports music festivals taking place in Germany in 2027, with an exception for January and February festivals in early 2028. Applicants must be eligible sole traders or legally constituted organisations based in Germany and responsible for the festival.
New festivals can qualify if their organisers can demonstrate previous responsibility for live-music events. Public access and evidence of at least five qualifying live-music programme items are among the conditions. Organisers should check the full eligibility rules, including restrictions concerning previous funding, public financing and projects that have already started. These are competitive grants, not an automatic entitlement.
Small and medium-sized festivals are the main focus. The scheme places particular emphasis on artistic programming, emerging musicians, underrepresented groups and connections with local communities. Measures supporting inclusion, participation and accessibility can also form part of a project.
Applying in German, with advice available in English
Applications must be in German, although Initiative Musik offers advice in English. Organisers should prepare the required financing plan, reference programme and supporting documents before submitting through the funding portal.
The operator recommends Chrome or Firefox if applicants encounter browser problems. Anyone for whom online submission creates an accessibility barrier should contact the programme team to discuss an alternative.
Extra telephone advice is available on 29 October from 2pm to 4pm and on 30 October from 10am to 11am. The programme team can be reached at +49 30 531 475 45 540 or festivalfoerderung@initiative-musik.de. Check the application FAQ before submitting.
All deadlines and advice-session times are local German time.
