Centro Pecci Books Festival 2026: free literary encounters in Prato

Babylon Radio
Listen nowA book event can be an easy way to discover a cultural venue in a new city. From 5 to 7 November, Centro Pecci Books Festival brings writers, readers and artists together in Prato, with free admission until places fill.
The festival’s fifth edition links literature with contemporary art. For newcomers to Tuscany, it offers a reason to explore beyond Florence and spend time in one of Prato’s cultural spaces. You can choose a single conversation or stay for several events.
Choose a conversation that interests you
The official programme opens on Thursday 5 November. At 18:30, Maria Ausilia Di Falco presents Immacolata with the Via col Libro book club. Fumettibrutti follows at 20:30 with a novel presentation, before Maura Gancitano speaks at 21:30 about beauty, bodies and the influence of images.
As La Nazione reported on 27 October, the festival is organised with local schools and associations as well as literary guests. It is part of the city’s shared cultural life, rather than simply a series of author appearances.
Art books, poetry and participation
Friday 6 November includes art-book presentations and a meeting between the Books Festival and Centro Pecci Night. At 19:30, Steve Turtell and Giulia Crispiani give a reading from Portraits & Places.
Saturday’s programme includes Federica Romagna at 10:00, discussing how work shapes personal identity. Later, poetry takes centre stage: an open mic starts at 17:00, followed by readings and a round-table discussion at 18:45. Check participation details with the organiser if you hope to perform rather than listen.
Some sessions are specifically for schools or teacher training. Use the programme to choose a public event, and check language arrangements rather than assuming an English translation is provided.
Plan the journey to Prato
The venue is at Viale della Repubblica 277. Its visitor guidance describes the city bus connection from Prato Centrale station: line 1+ towards Centro Pecci/Repubblica, getting off at Centro Pecci. Check current services and your return journey before setting out.
Festival admission and exhibition admission are separate matters. The visitor page lists museum ticket prices, so do not assume the free literary event also covers an exhibition visit. Event times above are local to Prato.
