Brussels Festival of Migrations 2026: free events through 24 September

Babylon Radio
Listen nowBrussels’ Festival of Migrations continues at Place de Brouckère until Thursday 24 September 2026. The City of Brussels says the programme is free and open to everyone. For the remaining days, the main events are a French-language lecture and debate on migration policy on Tuesday 22 September and performances of Le Songe on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September. Registration is required for the debate and theatre performances.
The one-off city festival brings together associations, artists, local residents and community organisations around migration, identity and living together in Brussels. It is a particularly useful event for international residents who want to meet local organisations or understand how migration and integration are discussed in the city.
What is still happening at the Brussels Festival of Migrations?
There is no separate festival programme listed for Monday 21 September. Anyone planning to attend later in the week should use the official City of Brussels page to register and to check for any last-minute changes.
What happens at the migration-policy debate on 22 September?
The Tuesday evening event starts with a reception and welcome drink at 18:30, followed by the discussion at 19:00. The City of Brussels lists speakers from organisations including CIRÉ, BelRefugees, ULB Centre METICES and CNCD-11.11.11. The session looks at developments in migration policy and what possibilities exist for action in Brussels.
The debate is in French only. It is free, but the city provides a registration link on the official festival page.
What is Le Songe?
Le Songe is a French-language theatre performance by Les Nouveaux Disparus. The City of Brussels lists it as suitable for audiences aged 8 and over. Two performances remain: Wednesday 23 September at 14:00 and Thursday 24 September at 19:30.
Both performances are free but require registration. The city also lists the telephone number 02 219 11 98 for bookings with Les Nouveaux Disparus.
Where is the Festival of Migrations?
The festival’s central location is Place de Brouckère, 1000 Brussels, in the city centre. Public transport is the easiest option for most visitors. Babylon’s public transport guide for Belgium explains the main transport networks and ticket options for newcomers.
If you have recently moved to Belgium, our guide to living in Belgium and Belgium address registration guide cover other practical basics for settling in.
Is the festival free?
Yes. The City of Brussels states that the Festival of Migrations programme is free and open to everyone. The remaining debate and theatre events still require registration, so free admission does not mean you can assume a place will be available without booking.
Why this festival may be useful for international residents
This is more than a general city festival. Its programme is built around migration, identity, solidarity and living together in Brussels, with participation from local associations and community organisations. That makes it a practical way for newcomers and established international residents to learn more about the city’s community networks while attending a cultural event.
Earlier festival days included music, food tastings, exhibitions, workshops and a city-centre parade. The remaining programme is more focused on discussion and theatre.
