For international residents in Brussels, this is one of the strongest multicultural events of the autumn: it combines a major Indian celebration with performers and cultural partners from across Europe under the 2026 theme Culture United.
Brussels Diwali Festival 2026 at a glance
The organiser’s current timetable lists Sunday closing at 22:00. Visit Brussels currently shows 12:00–23:00 for the festival generally, so visitors planning to stay late on Sunday should follow the organiser’s live programme for the final closing time.
What happens at the festival?
The programme mixes classical and contemporary Indian culture. During the afternoon, visitors can expect Hindustani and Carnatic music, classical dance and workshops in activities such as rangoli, mehndi, dance and cooking. The evening programme moves towards bhangra, folk and Bollywood, alongside the Brides of India fashion show.
A food village will bring together regional Indian dishes, while the festival also includes an Avenue of Lights and a hand-decorated temple area. A peace and harmony puja is scheduled on both days. The organisers explicitly say that everyone is welcome, whether or not they are Hindu or familiar with Diwali traditions.
When are the fireworks?
Fireworks are scheduled for 21:00 on both Saturday and Sunday, with the display above the Atomium lasting around ten minutes. Families with very young children may want to bring ear protection, particularly if staying for the evening programme.
How much are tickets?
The official festival site currently lists an online presale price of €10 until 30 September 2026. One ticket gives unlimited access across both days. The gate price is €15. Children under 12 are free, but the organiser asks families to add children to the booking so they receive an event band.

How do you get to the Atomium Esplanade?
The nearest major public-transport stop is Heysel/Heizel. The Atomium’s official access information recommends metro line 6, and STIB-MIVB also serves the area by tram. From Brussels-Midi, metro line 6 runs directly towards Roi Baudouin/Koning Boudewijn and stops at Heysel/Heizel. Contactless bank-card payment is available on STIB-MIVB services.
Because the festival takes place beside a major attraction and finishes after the evening fireworks, public transport is likely to be simpler than driving. Check live STIB-MIVB service information before departure.
Is Brussels Diwali Festival good for newcomers?
Yes. It is designed as an open public celebration rather than an event only for people who already know Diwali. The mix of food, music, workshops and evening entertainment makes it easy to attend casually, while the Culture United theme gives the tenth edition a particularly international character.
