On Sunday 15 November at 5pm, harpist Helena Madeira and kora player Luís Lourenço perform at Igreja Matriz de Paderne, in the municipality of Albufeira. Their programme includes medieval Galician-Portuguese songs, Portuguese traditional music and works by Madeira.
On Sunday 22 November at 5pm, Rebeca Csalog gives a harp recital at Igreja da Misericórdia de Lagoa. The selection ranges from Erik Satie and John Cage to Carlos Paredes and Arvo Pärt. It is a chance to hear familiar musical styles in a different instrumental setting.
On Saturday 28 November at 4.30pm, Katy Salvidge plays at Igreja da Misericórdia de Monchique. The listed pieces include Irish and Scottish traditional tunes, alongside music by other composers. All times are local. The organiser’s full programme lists the works for each performance.
How to attend
Concert admission is free, with general-public places available on a first-come basis within each church’s capacity. Only members of the organising association, Ideias do Levante, whose subscriptions are up to date can reserve seats. Most places are kept for the general public, so arriving in good time is sensible.
The festival welcomes optional donations for the host parishes and institutions. Its concert calendar links to venue, performer and entry information, making it the best place to check the details before setting out.
Produced by Ideias do Levante with local partners, the festival has run since 2021. For people settling into life in the Algarve, these concerts offer a simple way to discover a local church, enjoy live music and spend an afternoon in a different town.
